Dear LA Y Team,

Last Tuesday, we concluded our Center for Community Well-Being regional roadshows at the Torrance Y. With 87 attendees—our largest group yet—we shared stories, explored ideas, and deepened our understanding of our Y’s Strategic Framework and Areas of Impact: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Impact.

A pivotal question emerged during this event: "How do we integrate the Areas of Impact within our roles?" This question, echoed in various forms over the past few months, deserves our attention. To illuminate this concept, I'd like to share a powerful story that embodies our work.

Katia's Journey: A Testament to Our Impact

Meet Katia, a long-time member of the Collins & Katz Y. Her family's journey with us spans the challenging pandemic period and beyond, touching all aspects of our Areas of Impact:

  1. Youth Development: Katia's children were among the first to participate in our socially distanced swim lessons post-reopening. They later enrolled in sports and youth classes, fostering their growth and skills.
  2. Healthy Living: The family embraced our group exercise programs and workout facilities, prioritizing their physical and mental well-being.
  3. Social Impact: When financial hardships struck, Katia found support through our food distribution program. Remarkably, she transformed this experience into an opportunity to give back, volunteering her time to help others in need.

Katia's story exemplifies how our Areas of Impact intertwine to support individuals on their well-being journeys. It's a testament to our ability to connect with our community, understand their evolving needs, and empower them to Be Well, Do Good, and Lead Change.

Our Mission in Action

Stories like Katia's aren't rare—they're the essence of our daily work. Whether through Healthy Living initiatives, Membership services, diverse Programs, or Volunteerism opportunities, we're constantly supporting individuals on their paths to holistic well-being.

Our mission is clear and powerful: to support the unique well-being journeys of our members and communities by seamlessly integrating our Areas of Impact into everything we do. This isn't just a lofty ideal—it's a practical approach that each of you can embody in your roles.

Looking Ahead

In the coming months, we'll delve deeper into how each of you can apply these principles in your specific roles. We'll showcase examples of team members who are already successfully integrating our Areas of Impact, providing inspiration and practical insights for all. Your dedication to this vital work is the driving force behind our impact. Together, we're not just running programs or managing facilities—we're transforming lives and strengthening our community, one person at a time.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our mission. Your work matters, and it's making a profound difference.

Onward together,

Victor
