    Vice Presidential Visit
On Friday, June 16th, a heartwarming display of civic engagement took place as 30 spirited teenagers from 12 of the Los Angeles YMCA's 26 branches warmly welcomed US Vice President Kamala Harris as she arrived at LA International Airport. Their enthusiastic reception demonstrated the significance of their participation in the YMCA's Youth & Government program and their unwavering determination to shape the future. This inspiring scene serves as a powerful reminder of the youth's influential voice, which is driving transformative change in our society. Thank you to Sheldon Gibson for the event wrap-up!

No-Cost Activities Happening Locally This Month

Summer is peak activity season in LA. From the hills to the shores, and everywhere in between, there's something low or no cost happening every weekend. Here are some of our favorites taking place in the next month:

Celebrate the bloom of Echo Park Lake’s beloved floating flowers with the annual Lotus Festival. Expect food, music, dragon boat races, lantern launches and if all goes according to plan, the lotus flower beds in full bloom. The historic event celebrates the contributions of Asian-Americans to L.A., and this year, the 42nd, will honor the Indonesian community.

Watch a movie inside Pasadena’s charming One Colorado shopping plaza during this free summer series. If you happened to have spent at least $50 per person at one of the shopping center’s vendors earlier in the day, you’ll nab free VIP seating, which includes popcorn, candy and a beverage, plus a free ticket to the IPIC.

The Skirball puts on its annual series of free summer concerts, highlighting indie, folk and world music from L.A. and beyond. Guests can arrive early and visit the museum’s galleries for free, dine under the stars and grab a seat for the show in the beautiful central courtyard. The concert is free (and reservations are recommended), but parking is $15 in advance or $20 at the venue.
