    Y-USA Scholarships Available!
    Would you like to attend a YMCA national conference, earn a certification or take on an educational leadership opportunity? The application period for YMCA of the USA scholarships is now open and will conclude on June 5. Included in these scholarships are the Carolyn Creager Multicultural Leadership Development Scholarship for all staff of color and the Fred Hoshiyama Scholarships available for all Asian Pacific Islander staff.     Employee Resource Groups, also called ERGs, are the LA Y's network of Team Member-led groups designed to provide support, opportunities to get involved and mentorship. Getting involved in an ERG means taking a seat at the table, collaborating on meaningful projects and committing to lending your voice to help create the best workplace possible. The EAP provides many free resources including short-term counseling and professional & personal development webinars on topics like Anger Management, Assertiveness, Managing Time & Setting Boundaries and Retirement Planning. View the 2023 Resource Catalog for descriptions and information.

    • Have you scheduled your Wellbeing Day yet? Remember that all employees receive a paid Wellbeing Day in 2023. This paid time is intended to provide each Team Member with a day to focus on self-care, wellbeing and anything else that helps you find balance. The Wellbeing Day will not rollover into 2024 so make sure to use it this year!

    • Before and after-school child care is now free for LA Y Team Members and Day Camp registration is now 25% off. Please visit our registration site or check in with your branch Membership lead to learn more about the current and upcoming schedule.

    No-Cost Activities Happening Locally This Month
    We're steps away from June and the start to what should be a warm, beautiful summer season in LA. Whether you prefer outdoor movie screenings with your family or chalk interpretations of your favorite art and culture pieces, there are tons of free things to do around town this month!

    Here are some of our favorites from the upcoming calendar:

    • June 3 – Studio City Recreation Center hosts a free outdoor screening of Moana.
    • June 16 – Bloomsday at The Hammer celebrates author James Joyce with an evening of stage readings, plus live traditional Irish music by Rattle the Knee and plenty of Guinness on tap.
    • June 17 – Levitt Pavilion Concerts features Pan Afrikan People’s Arkestra, presented by dublab.
    • June 17-18 – 30th annual Pasadena Chalk Festival pops up at the Plaza of the Pasadena Convention Center.
    • June 18 – CicLAvia South L.A. returns with a car-free course along Vermont Avenue.
