Hello, everyone,
After months of planning, the LA Y will kick off the summer season on June 12th. Kids and teens will participate in 10 weeks of day camp, resident camp, field trips, swim lessons and a variety of enrichment programming. While the start of the summer programming season coincides with instructional calendars, it’s about so much more than occupying the kids’ time while they’re on an educational break. Summer at the Y is about using a defined and brief moment in time to transform lives as only our organization can. This is what we prepare, condition and develop months in advance for…this is our Super Bowl.
With the majority of our staff positioned in Aquatics, Child Care and Get Summer programming, a large percentage of our team will have a first-hand role in summer operations. It will be fun and exciting but it will also be challenging and at times, frustrating. There will be stressful moments, last-minute schedule changes and depending on the age group, at least some tears. Working with kids can be challenging but as a school teacher, I can say with certainty that it’s also the most rewarding.
While your supervisors have been hard at work creating curriculums, curating experiences and designing opportunities to help kids thrive, we understand how much time, energy and heart goes into every summer season and we know that we couldn’t do it without you. We believe in you, we are here to cheer you on and in a few months, will be by your side to celebrate the conclusion of another incredible summer. Until then, I hope that you are inspired to make this the best summer ever, not just for the kids but for you as well! I hope that you take advantage of the wonderful, built-in network of support that you have within your own team and most importantly, I hope you can pause, look around and enjoy the beauty of each warm, summer day.
Thank you for what you do to transform lives every day,
Victor |
