Dear Erin,
We know that people find the Y through different paths. Parents discover our programs for their children; adults find support and resources to maintain a healthy routine through our exercise classes and facilities; and teens are being welcomed through our doors as part of our annual Get Summer programming. LA Y Team Members have their own stories of how they’ve discovered the Y. Thousands of incredible stories currently exist within our branches, with those who have retired or moved-on from the Y and even those whose stories are just beginning. The LA Y is a place where wonderful, human stories flourish and that’s largely because a focus on each other is rooted in our mission. People come to the Y for many reasons but stay at the Y for one – the connections with others.
I hope that you’re enjoying your Y experience, learning something new and creating an impact on our community. If you’re part-time, I hope you’re considering the Y as a career. In the meantime, think about connecting with some of the more seasoned Y Team Members and ask them about their experiences. We truly believe that working for the LA Y is a fulfilling and meaningful experience, and through those conversations, you’ll hear many stories of friendship and connection which anchors our work. As always, please work with your supervisor or the People, Culture, and Development team to start – or revisit – your Y career path. In the future, it could be you, sharing your Y career experience with a new employee just starting their journey.
On a final note, I’d love for you and your families to join us for our Summer Team Event on Sunday, August 6th at Simon Meadow in Pacific Palisades as we celebrate the work, dedication, and friendships that make every day at the Y possible. Please RSVP using the button below. I hope to see you there! |
