Girls Empowerment Day |
|
More than 5,000 middle and high school girls from across Los Angeles showed up ready to be inspired, to move, to lead, and to believe in themselves. And for the first time in our history, they were joined by 1,000 additional students in Mexico City, where our partners at YMCA of Mexico hosted the inaugural Girls Empowerment Day at the exact same moment. One mission. Two nations. One extraordinary day. |

LCDC Updates
As a reminder, we encourage everyone to download a copy of their Y-USA transcripts as soon as possible. To do this, go to Link, select LCDC, then My Records, and choose Y-USA Transcripts. From there, you can print or save your transcript as a PDF for your records. Taking a few minutes to complete this now will ensure you have access to your training history during the transition. |

Team Shout-Out: Collins and Katz Y Youth & Family Team |
|
|
|
When our YMCA experienced the recent flood that impacted several areas of facility- especially the child activity center and activity room, our team stepped up in an incredible way.
When the rooms started flooding, the child activity center was actively operating and had to evacuate quickly. Our staff remained calm and focused, ensuring every child stayed safe and dry. Team members even lifted and passed children to one another to keep them out of the water during the evacuation. Amber, Carol, Lesly, and Kala were true heroes that day, demonstrating teamwork, quick thinking, and deep care for the children in our program.
The very next day, our team jumped into action with a strong "How can I help?" mindset. Furniture was moved, damaged items were cleared out, and spaces were reorganized so we could continue serving our families as quickly as possible. Thanks to fast thinking and teamwork, we were able to relocate our youth enrichment classes and the child activity center in different rooms.
Even when the work became tiring and the days stretched past normal hours, the team stayed focused on one common goal-supporting our families and restoring our program areas. Everyone continued to show up with a positive mindset and a willingness to help wherever it was needed.
A huge thank you to Alicia, Kyle, Kala, Amber, Lesly, Jasmine, Allison, Jackie, Bekah, Cesar, Jonna, Leron, and Bryan who worked tirelessly moving furniture and setting up new spaces so our programs could continue safely and smoothly.
This team truly exemplified resilience, teamwork, and dedication to our Y community. We're incredibly grateful for their hard work and commitment to the families we serve!
