Dear Y Team Members,

As we begin a new year, I want to thank you for the hope, energy, and pride you bring to the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles every single day. There is a renewed sense of excitement across our organization—and it’s because of you.

This month marks the anniversary of the fires that impacted so many families and communities across our region on January 7, including the loss of our Palisades Malibu YMCA. While the memory of that time is still heavy, I am incredibly proud of how the Y showed up then—and how we continue to show up now. We are sustaining critical support for those impacted, including free memberships, free summer camps, free childcare, mental health resources, and access to essential services. This is the Y at its best and as the Center for Community Well-Being: responsive, compassionate, and deeply rooted in community.

January is also a key moment for us to build momentum for the year ahead. We will be pushing hard toward our membership goals to ensure a strong start to the year—welcoming new members, reuniting with returning ones, and continuing to open our doors to expanded areas of engagement for all to belong. Your work on the front lines, behind the scenes, and everywhere in between makes this possible.

Thank you for all that you do to make your Y—and all of the LA Y—the Center for Community Well-Being. Your commitment changes lives, strengthens neighborhoods, and helps all to be well, do good, and lead change.

Be well,

Victor
