Say Hello to Our Wellbeing Director!
 
Dr. Kate (Katherine Emerson) is the LA Y's wonderfully talented Social-Emotional Wellbeing Director! A dedicated workplace wellness resource for our LA Y Team Members, Dr. Kate is available to assist any staff who are struggling. Please contact her directly at KateEmerson@ymcaLA.org.

A bit of background: Dr. Kate has been a social work practitioner for over 25 years. Her background includes over 20 years in higher education, teaching social work courses at three California State
Universities. Currently she teaches at Fordham University Graduate School of Social Work and UMASS. Passionate about women’s issues, Dr. Kate is on the Board of Directors of East Los Angeles Women’s Center and trains nursing students at Alta Med on Intimate Partner Violence.
 
 
Free Tax Prep from the Vita Clinic
CSUN's Vita Clinic is once again offering free tax preparation services to qualifying employees. Beginning February 1st, Vita will be offering appointments at the West Valley Y. You may be eligible if you (or you and your spouse together) earned a total gross income of less than $64,000 during the tax year and are a resident of Los Angeles County.

The Wellness Day is Back!
In addition to our standard employee perks and benefits, all LA Y Team Members receive a paid Wellness Day for 2024! Whether you want to sleep in until noon, take a day trip to watch the sunset at your favorite beach or try something completely new, the Wellness Day is yours! You can schedule your Wellness Day in the drop-down menu under Dayforce's Request Time Off section. As with other scheduled time off, please work with your supervisor to make arrangements!
 
 
30 Under 30 Celebrations!
 

This month, Brenda Galvez from the Mid Valley Y and Jimi-Lee Tomboc from the Westchester Y were recognized for this year's prestigious 30 Under 30 award! The 30 Under 30 award recognizes staff who embody the YMCA mission, and formally acknowledges 30 full-time YMCA leaders under the age of 30 for their accomplishments!
